TLC for kids

Visit the TLC for kids website

TLC for kids is a registered charity, providing immediate distractions and urgent attention for sick children, young people and their families via a number of free services and programs across Australia.

Services include:

Rapid TLC program: A program unique to TLC for kids who are committed to responding to the needs of children and families within 24 - 48 hours. Any child, with any sickness or health condition is eligible for Rapid TLC requests. These may include specially chosen toys, an outing away from the routine of hospital, an experience that's been a long held dream, or a practical need for the child or their family - really anything that will make a difference in the child's life. Support is given throughout a child's journey through illness and hospitalization so children and families can be provided with some extra TLC whenever it is needed.

TLC Distraction Box Program: Especially designed to help 'distract' children aged 8 years and under when they need a medical examination or procedure (such as a needle)  in hospitals and community health clinics. Distraction diverts attention away from the medical procedure by focusing the child’s attention on a fun object or activity, helping to make the experience less traumatic for everyone.

** All referrals to Rapid TLC must come from a health care professional.

Cystic Fibrosis Victoria

What is cystic fibrosis?

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is the most common life-threatening, genetic disorder amongst Australians. CF primarily affects the respiratory system (lungs), digestive system (pancreas and sometimes liver) and reproductive system. A person with CF needs to have inherited a copy of the CF gene from both of their parents. The condition occurs equally in males and females. There is currently no cure.

To find out about a simple test to see if the gene is in your family contact the Cystic Fibrosis Organization in your state.
